Installing the 3CX Live Chat for WordPress and non-WordPress Users

Process

Step 1 Adding Live Chat in 3CX

To add live chat to your website using 3CX, log into your 3CX Web Client and go to "Admin > Voice & chat." Click on "+ Add Live Chat" and do the following

  • Choose the extension or queue to receive chat messages and calls.
  • Set the availability of the chat based on office hours.
  • Enter your website address.
  • Specify the information required from visitors before they can start a chat.
  • Optionally, enable the option for visitors to call you directly through 3CX.
  • Select how the live chat box should appear on your website (as a chat box or chat bubble).

Step 2: Customization

Customize the live chat functionality according to your preferences. Use the preview of the chat bubble at the bottom right of the page to interact and test the features.

Styling

  • Choose from four predefined themes or customize the colors by selecting each color tile.
  • Select your desired bubble icon.
  • Pick a chat box animation from the dropdown menu.

Messages

  • Decide if you want the default language to be different from the visitor's browser language.
  • Enter your own intro text and button label for the live chat form.
  • Customize online and offline greeting messages.
  • Define the wording of automated messages.

Agent

  • Choose to display the real name of the agent or set up a default name and avatar.
  • If using a default agent, upload a photo and set the name to be displayed.

Advanced

  • Enable calls to a queue or ring group when no agent is available.
  • Display a GDPR notice to visitors before starting a conversation (optional).

Step 3 Enabling Live Chat on Your Website

After configuring live chat, you need to add it to your website. If you have a webmaster, use the provided email box to send them the necessary information. Follow the instructions based on your website platform

WordPress Websites

  • Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
  • Go to 'Plugins' and click "Add New."
  • Search for "3CX" and install the "3CX Free Live Chat" plugin.
  • Once installed, access "3CX Live Chat" in the sidebar.
  • Paste the previously copied URL and choose where to display the chat.
  • Save the changes.
